A New Year

A new year means a fresh start.  After a wonderful summer break we all crawled back to school with our tails between our legs.  Even usual excitement of a new and different curriculum did not excite us to get back into the school routine.  But one has to do what one has to do.  So to school we go.  Lucky for us it is in the room next to the kitchen!!
This year I started with the two boys.  And yes, it has gone pretty much how I expected.  Broc is loving the work while Cam is not interested at all.  This has made me decide to put Cam on hold and just carry on with Broc, was hoping for a simpler life and being able to do the two boys together, but then that would have been way to boring and unchallenged.  Cam however does join in with a few things and loves making a mess.
The girls are back in the horrid school routine and doing well.  Lots and lots of hard work is required once in high school, Tyla however seems to disagree and is finding creative ways to get out of this mountain of work, as of this point non of her tactics have worked and has only created more work for her.  Alas, she is a slow learner.
The hot summer days are rolling to an end and we are taking as much advantage of it as we can.  Each trip to the beach has a story of its own.  Cairn having his back put out by a wave that slammed him into the beach, me learning to walk on water when a crab attached itself to my foot and of course the trickiest of the lot, loading the jet ski onto the back of the pickup because the wheel bearing on the trailer broke.  And then we had to get the thing off!!!  And summer has had it's trips to the ER too, with stitches and dislocated elbows.
All in a day and a life of this family!!

Adventure:

My definition of adventure - going beyond your limits and experiencing something new and coming back into place a better person.  One's adventure might be short or might seem never ending.
This week for me has been an adventure for me, with one little thing after another taking me beyond my limits.  Dealing with not only my hormones but those of my two daughters who have been transformed into very different people, and all the little mishaps that seem to be more mountains than the little things that they are.  Like milk being spilt on our modem and shorting it out, or the printer running out of ink in the middle of a school day or the potty training toddler who does not like to sit on the toilet or finding out that the piles of dirt on the veranda are your two smashed pot plants that the boys knocked over and last of all hearing your little boy say, "Oh no mommy!" at the supermarket till with a cue of trolleys behind you, only to find he has deposited a little puddle by his feet.
Yes, this week as been an adventure of note:  being stretch beyond me but hoping to come back into place better for it.
And I thank you Lord for such days.

Something New

So amoung the chaos at home, with new adventures being tried out daily, I am trying to find a bit of space to give blogging a try.  As I type, my littlest one lies squirming on the bed, unhappy with life as toddlers usually are.  I can hear the bird chatting and the other kids discussing something and the dog barks madly at passing strangers.  So will this too just be a tried adventure?
